Bernard Kinisu, 53, was born in Bungoma, Kenya. He joined the diocesan major seminary after high school, studying philosophy for two years, followed by theology for three years. He then joined the Holy Cross Fathers religious community. Leaving the seminary, he worked for four years with the SOS Children’s Village. When he had an opportunity to go to the US for studies, he attended Springfield College in Massachusetts, receiving both an undergraduate and Master’s degrees in Community Counseling Psychology. He attended the University of Massachusetts in Amherst for his doctoral degree in Social Justice Education 1994 to 1998.He also received another Doctoral Degree in Education in 2008 from St. Alcuin’s Theological Seminary in Blaine, Minnesota.

In the United States, Bernard was associated with the Reformed Roman Catholic Church that was based in Miami Florida, USA. He Was Ordained a Deacon October 22nd and a Priest December 12th in 1999.He Later associated with the Reformed Catholic Church in Ohio, and the United Free Catholic Church the State of Virginia. Bernard brought non-Roman Catholicism to Kenya in 2000, and is an enthusiastic spokesperson for Married Priesthood and the ordination of women to the priesthood. For sixteen years, Bernard lived in Springfield, Massachusetts, returning to Kenya on a permanent basis in 2005 to care for his mother who lives on a small farm in a rural village, and to establish his ministry there. Since April 2006 Bernard worked full time as a university counselor and adjunct Faculty of the United States International University in Nairobi until 2010. He currently works as full time lecturer at the Kenya Methodist University, and is the head of the Catholic Diocese of One Spirit in Kenya.

In addition to growing a strong group of ministers working with him as future priests and bishops in Kenya, Bernard works with the poor in Mathare Valley Slums on the outskirts of Nairobi. Bernard has established “Sky is the limit” project to facilitate for the following programs for the poor in Mathare Valley; The Hungry Children’s feeding Program, the School Uniform program, the high school fees education program and the Counseling services for families and Children.  Typically 70 children participate in his Children of the Poor/ Feed My Lambs Ministry in t he slums of Mathare Valley. He established a small drop-in center for the kids, who come for recreation to watch TV, dance, play cards, and attend the sacraments, Bernard is Married to Gladys, a high School Principal, and has a daughter, Elizabeth who is in graduate school.

Jude Julius Ong'ong'a

Jude Julius Ong’ong’a

Father Jude Ong’ong’a is one of the oldest and most experienced priests in Kenya. He worked for many years as a Roman Catholic Priest and taught seminary theology. He is currently a faculty member at Kenyatta University in Nairobi, Kenya. He is Married and has two children. His wife works for the United Nations in Kenya, and is an ex-Roman Catholic nun.

Gabriel Wekesa Lumbasi

Gabriel Wekesa Lumbasi

Bishop-Elect Gabriel Lumbasi has a Doctorate in Sacred Theology from the Catholic University. He is an experienced former Roman Catholic Priest. Gabriel is married to an ex-Roman Catholic Nun. He is a lecturer at Egerton University, one of the public universities of Kenya. His wife teaches high school. He and his wife have two children. Gabriel is a wonderful and loyal man of God, and is very pleasant to work with.

Samuel Lometo Lowano

Samuel Lometo Lowano

Bishop-Elect Samuel Lowano if the first generation of his small tribe in Kenya to be a Bishop-Elect in a Church. He works for the Teachers Service Commission of Kenya in the administrative office. He was a Roman Catholic priest for many years, and was trained in special programs for working in hardship areas by Italian Bishop Ravasi who ordained him to the priesthood. Samuel is married and has three sons, and is a delight to work with.

Pius Wamalwa

Pius Wamalwa was ordained to the diaconate in 2001. Pius is single and living on a family farm.

Benjamin Okiru Mamayi

Benjamin Okiru Mamayi

Benjamin Mamayi was ordained April 2010 by An African Local Bishop. He is Married and has children. He lives on a farm in the rural countryside, and was a Roman Catholic Catechist for eight years. He is very dynamic in his pastoral work.

Leonard Oduor Odonde

 

Leonard Oduor Odonde

Leonard Odonde was ordained to the diaconate in 2009. He has a wife and children, currently works as grounds man/gardener at a local Academy. His wife works at a nuns’ convent. Leonard was trained to be a contemplative brother through the Apostles of Jesus Congregation before he left and got married. He currently assists at the Poor Children’s Ministry in the Mathare Valley slums.

Samuel Mburu Mathea

Samuel Mburu Mathea

Samuel Mathea joined our ministry in 2010. He has previously been in religious life as a brother with the Dela Salle Brothers (Christian Brothers International). Samuel is currently teaching temporarily at a high school, and is working on theological and professional training. He is married.

Justus Nyabola Ebuk

Justus Nyabola Ebuk

Justus Ebuk was ordained to the diaconate in 2001, and has since worked as resident deacon at St. Ann’s, the first Parish established in Kenya within the diocese. He lives with his wife and children on an ancestral piece of land, and also works at the local Anglican Church. A very wonderful man of God, he was a catechist in the Roman Catholic Church for 14 years.

John Joseph Ndirangu

John Joseph Ndirangu

John Ndirangu was ordained to the diaconate in 2006 and currently working on a temporary basis with a phone company in Nairobi. He has a bachelors degree in philosophy, and a theology degree from the Pontifical University of Urbaniana. He is single.

Cosmas Mutuku Katwiwa

Cosmas Mutuku Katwiwa

Cosmas Katwiwa will be ordained a deacon in August, 2010. He is married with children and has many theological and secular degrees up to Masters level. He did most of his studies in the United Kingdom (UK), and teaches high school on a part-time basis.

Nicholas Nyagah

 

Nicholas Nyagah

Nicholas Nyagah is studying to become a deacon, and is married with children A part-time high school teacher, he was formerly a Consolata Seminarian and finished all theological studies, has a Bachelors Degree and is currently attending Kampala International University for a Master’s degree in Education.
